For the few that I talk to regularly, Jake and I made a mad dash to Mississippi last week. First, my grandparents were hospitalized for various reasons and then my sweet aunt passed away from a short battle with cancer. Betty was an amazing educator and always strived to, in her words, 'make a difference.'
While at home, I did get to see a few of my favorite people. My niece, Lauren, is the sweetest little girl in the world. She also adores her Aunt Suz--we have matching flip flops for the summer!
My BFF Deanne--she always makes us happy when we're sad. Thanks Deanne!
Old College Girlfriends--two are preggers. Congrats Lacey and Dana!

Seals and Austin rode with us to Lexington to see my grandparents in the hospital. After much work, Austin was finally calling me Suz.
My Nanny. She talked on and on (she was known as an excellent conversationalist!) about going to her new nursing home, making banana pudding for my birthday, and how much she loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
Unexpectedly, we lost her the next day. I miss her more every day but I promised my granddaddy I would work on her banana pudding recipe so he wouldn't have to do without his sweets.
My sweet Granddaddy. He is not known to be much of a talker but it was wonderful to hear his old stories of life before us. Please keep him in your prayers as he deals with life after Nanny.
I'm so thankful that I got to spend special time with my Nanny the day before she left us. She was a very special lady--I'll always be thankful for being her granddaughter.
Jake is in Mississippi for two more weeks, so if you see him, tell him I miss him!
