I think (and hope) that Jeremy had the most fabulous Birthday weekend ever! We started the festivities by dropping Jake off with a babysitter so we could have a lovely, romantic dinner. Special thanks to Miss Wendy for allowing Jake to come over and play games and make daddy a birthday card! We love you!
After our quiet dinner, we went back over to Miss Wendy's and played board games late into the night---it was so much fun! Poor Jake pooped out waiting on us to finish up!
On Saturday, we laid around the house in our pajamas and did whatever the birthday boy wanted to do. Then we took Jake to the Barnum and Bailey Circus, which is the most awesome event!!

Lovey and Papa--thank you for Fluffy!!! She is well taken care of! Jake and I make sure to snug her in tight at night, give her plenty of chocolate milk to drink, and shower her with hugs and kisses.
Happy Birthday Jeremy! We love you!

Santa has babies?

The other day Jake and I were on our way home from school and he told me that Mrs. J (his wonderful teacher) has a sister. I said I didn't know that and explained to him that Mama has two brothers and Daddy has two sisters. He sat there in deep thought for a minute and this is what followed:
Jake: Mama, I need a sister like Mrs. J. Can I have two like Daddy?
Mama: Well....(fear deep in my throat), you'll have to ask Santa for a baby sister this year. He gave Buddy the Elf a family.
Jake: But Mama, Santa sent Buddy the Elf to a bad daddy. And Buddy is a boy! I want a sister!
Mama: Well, we'll just wait and see. Mama has to grow one in her belly.
(Deep thought and hands on hip) Jake: Mama, I need my baby sister for Christmas! Now!
He doesn't think it's fair that Jeremy and I got two of each. Growing up, we didn't think it was far either!

Mr. Fashionista

Jake goes through sunglasses like he does underwear: weekly. Last week, after losing our best transformer glasses, he asks to wear mine. No problem, right? Except he made them look good!
Everyone needs a pair of Mr. Incredible socks ($1 at Target).
I have bragged to everyone I know, but on Friday Jake wrote his name for the first time by himself!! Mrs. J. stayed late to tell me how proud she is of him. I can't believe that he can write words already. I can't believe he's almost 4.....

Jake's self portrait. I think he's the next Picasso!!

Cat and Caboodle

Nothing ever happens in January. The holidays are over but spring is still an arm's distance away. So what do you do to keep busy?
Go to Cracker Barrel, what else?
Jake is on a mission to get a cat. Criteria:
Must be black. All other colors unacceptable.
Must be named Fluffy.
Fluffy must be a girl.
Fluffy will wrestle with Molly and play with Lincoln Logs.
Fluffy will wear a tag with her name on it.
Fluffy will sleep on a pink pillow beside her Jake.
Fluffy will grow big and strong with chocolate milk and cinnamon snacks.
We can't get a cat-at least not a real one. But Jake is sure that Santa will send him a cat this year to love on. At least he's not asking for a baby brother anymore....talk about pressure.
Have a great week!

Happy New Year!

We had a very relaxing and busy stay-cation in Florida. Lovey stayed with us for two weeks and Papa and Uncle Joe came to ring in the New Year with Jake the Snake.
One afternoon, Papa and Uncle Joe made Jake take a nap and he was very angry with them-or at least that's what he said. Below is how I found him during the nap.
Jake and Sully (Lovey's pup) are kindred spirits. Sully would run away from Jeremy and even Lovey, but he loved his cousin Jake!
Papa and his bestest buddy!
Santa was very good to Jake this year and brought him the coolest of the cool bikes. Jake likes to look at the bike but he's not to crazy about actually riding the bike. However, he is putting forth his best effort so that we can ride together again as a family. If not, he'll be that 4 year old still riding shotgun on his Mama's bike!
We wish everyone best wishes for 2009!
